Looks like Canon just released the next model in the G-series, the Powershot G12. I hope dpreview will conduct a full test of that one soon; I'm curious how it'll compare to the G11. :)

You state on Flikr that you use the G9. Are you thinking of upgrading to the G12?

Nope — I can't afford to buy a new camera "just because", much less an expensive one like these (there's a bit of a story about how I got the G9 in the first place). But if I *had* to upgrade, and if I could afford the G12, I'd likely get that. :)

(Although I still think a full test would be nice, first.)

I finally picked up something more respectable this summer when the opportunity arose.

My first 'real' camera, back in '74, was a Bell&Howell FD35 (a Canon TX). The FujiFilm is the closest I've returned to it since.

More respectable than what?

Anyhow, sounds like a nice one, too. *smiles* You should've just asked them about getting the "special" price despite missing it; I've done that before, and if you're persistent and the store isn't crappy, they may well let you have it. A happy customer is a returning customer, after all, and even at the "special" price, the store will still make money.

Heh, and that's quite an old one; back then, I wasn't even born, young whippersnapper that I am.

Sometimes gathering my thoughts is like herding rabbits ;o) More respectable than using my cell or better quality than my HP M417.

I asked for the previous price but they wouldn't budge and I figured the price wasn't bad at the time.

Old cameras... my first camera as a kid was a Brownie box camera. Looking at the pics of these online I guess it was pretty old when it was given to me.

Ah, pity — but worth a try.
