Happy independence day, Iceland!

Funny how it's already two years since I stood on Austurvöllur in front of Alþingi and listened to Jóhanna's speech and all that, too. (Not that I understood more than a little bit. :P) It sure doesn't feel like it was that long ago.

I should visit Iceland again.

Perhaps. *s* The country as such (nature) sure is brilliant; socially speaking, it's hard for me to say what it's like to actually live there, though. I imagine when you're properly rooted in Icelandic society, with friends, a good job, an income and all that, it'll be great, too, but it does appear difficult to penetrate. People often say that about the Scandinavian countries and contrast it with e.g. southern Europe, and it's true: people are much more reserved, although they're very nice when they do open up.

But yeah, definitely worth a visit, or two, or ten. ^_~ And if you get a realistic chance to move there... I'd seize that, too.
