365 days of SL, day 350:

More planespotting in the area off the northeast tip of Satori. I'd found a spot with a bunch of planes, boats and helicopters among the many islands there a while ago, and yesterday we went to check it out.

The plane seen here is a seaplane version of the PA-28 Cherokee 140, which is a kind we've not encountered before (the closest thing was another Piper aircraft, a J-3 Cub on day 323).

Here's two overviews over the area, also showing the other planes. The left pier had a DHC-2 Beaver (same as the one on day 315, in black and pink), a DHC-2 Turbo (same as day 304 and day 209) and a "Glamorous Goose", probably based on the Grumman G-21 Goose. The second pier, meanwhile, had two more DHC-2 Beavers. What's with those being so popular? (No, I'll leave the obvious jokes to Leslie Nielsen...)

For the helicopter fans, there were a Bell 206B-3 (rescue version) and two Eurocopter EC 135 models, one labelled "Floats" and one "Debruyere V STL", whatever that means.

(Side note: the isle on the far right here is missing some objects; presumably something, somewhere, was incapable of rendering quite so many things at the same time. Whether the issue is with my video card, its driver or SL I can't say, though.)

Here's some more random shots of the black-and-pink Beaver.

The first pair are a couple of screenshots I took for one of my entourage whose viewer does not mesh well with mesh, if you'll pardon the pun; the latter I just happened to chance upon when I was looking at the plane from various angles, and I found it interesting enough to keep.

I do like the color scheme on this plane, too.

And finally, towards the end of our daily excursion, we crossed them thar hills and found... more planes! Yet another Beaver, dubbed "DHC-2 T Dry FBR" (I've no idea), and a "Birdy Sky Hydro 3.4", apparently a floatplane variant of the Cessna 172.

And that's all!

Location: Grand Manan Island (80, 147, 20) (Grand Manan Island and Aurora Seaplane Base)
