365 days of SL, day 360:

When we were at that airport in Lapara in Heterocera last night, I noticed an interesting-looking area in the next sim to the west — a mountain retreat of sorts, with many platforms and ramps scaling the side of the hill. It seemed interesting, so we went and checked it out last night.

We arrived somewhere in the middle, not at the base of the mountain (much as I would've liked that; there was a road there, although I'm not sure anymore which — may have been 6a or so), and started making our way up. One of the the first things we came across a little higher was this pool, with a group of metal masks embedded in the rock spewing water.

Metal masks? I was intrigued.

But we eschewed the opportunity for a quick refresher in favor of going up, up the mountain ahead. The above shot is one I simply liked for the contrast between light and shade; and while the railings could use some work, the lamppost was delightful in its austerity.

Eventually we reached the lofty top, the round structure that can already be quite clearly seen in the screenshot at the top of this post. It was a spacious, sparsely-furnished build, with various spots for little groups to congregate without getting in each other's way (or, I presume, being in each other's chat range), and there was an adjacent platform out onto which we stepped for a moment.

The glow in the background is due to a fireplace, BTW.

Finally, we got to the top platform situated on the roof, and found ourselves a nice little spot. The glow in the first picture is still due to the fireplace; solid prims do not block glow in SL (alas), so I resorted to derezzing the fire entirely in the second shot. (Good thing that's possible!)

And then we just sat down and relaxed and enjoyed what little was left of the evening. It was an interesting area, and I figure we may well come back. (I'd certainly like to go all the way from the bottom up some time, and explore all the nooks and crannies too!)
