Ponytails

Mmm, I gotta say this list of pony-based cocktails is quite intriguing. Several of these cocktails are a little silly (and I'm not just talking about the Derpy), but I like the Luna and the Rarity (hmm, quite appropriate, and they're among my favorite MLP:FiM characters to boot):

  • Rarity — White Cosmopolitan: 1¼ oz vodka, ¾ oz Cointreau, 3 oz white cranberry juice, ½ oz lime juice. Shake well and serve in a martini glass with three blueberries as a garnish.

  • Luna — Sparkling Blue Cosmo[politan]: 1¼ oz vodka, ¾ oz blue curaçao, ½ oz lime juice. Shake and strain into a martini glass. Top with champagne, garnish with a lime wedge to represent the half moon.

I should find a bar with a skilled bartender who's willing to try new things (seeing as how most bartenders will be unlikely to have heard of pony-based drinks). :)

(Hat tip to EqD, BTW.)

I'd want to do that Rarity cosmopolitan now. I just stocked our bar for Sex on the Beaches, so I have the vodka and our kitchen normally has lime juice. Sadly, I don't think I could justify going out to get Cointreau and I only have red cranberry juice.

Ye gads though, I wanna try the Pinkie Pie. It would either be awesome or disgusting. But I want to drink it while doing the Pinkie Pie one man band thingy.

The Pinkie Pie sounds interesting, that's for sure. :) I'm a little alarmed by the nutmeg, but it might make for an interesting counterflavor (hmm, I hope that's a word). Drinking it while doing that one man band thing would be fun, too.

The Twilight Sparkle sounds interesting, too. The Trixie, OTOH, I think I'll stay away from. :) (And I think it's just a little unfair — Trixie isn't that much of a phony, now is she.)

I could probably try making the Rarity and Luna myself some time. I've got martini glasses and a shaker, and I already have a bottle of vodka and even a bottle of sparkling wine (no genuine champagne, but then Sekt should be fine)... mmm. All I'd need would be someone to drink with. :)

If it didn't cost money to buy an airline ticket and then didn't take the better portion of a day to get to Germany, I'd come out to drink pony drinks with you.

Besides, I need to practice my German while intoxicated ;)

Maybe next summer? Tim said after he graduates, I can take a summer trip to Germany, especially since I can't do the Year in Munich that WSU offers.

That's certainly an idea. :) But given how busy they usually already are at EF, I'm not sure they'd want to tell their bartenders to remember even more recipes, on top of the regular ones and the con specials.

I know I should've bought some ingredients today. Hmm, OTOH, it's only 8pm — I could still go and do so.
