Happy Lawnchair Larry Day, everyone! In fact, it's a special one, since this is actually the 30th anniversary of Lawnchair Larry's flight.
It was on July 2nd 1982 that Larry Walters, better known as Lawnchair Larry, tied fourty-five weather balloons to his lawnchair, strapped in and filled them with helium, and ended up climbing to 15000+ feet and floating about for several hours before ultimately managing to make it safely to the ground again — but not before startling several commercial airline pilots and causing a blackout in a residential neighborhood.
When he landed, cops and journalists were already waiting for him, and this is what he said to one of the journalists who asked why he went on that flight:
I love these words, I really do; and if you haven't done so yet, do something unusual today, something daring, something a little crazy. You've only got one life; make it count, and make sure you'll able to say "yes, it was good... by goodness, I really lived, and I would do it all again in a heartbeat" when you're old.
Make the best of your life, and whatever you do — don't just sit around.
