365 days of SL, day 138:

I think yesterday may well have been the first time I've been to Zindra, SL's Adult mainland continent (for those wanting a refresher, refer to day 126 for a short explanation of SL's maturity ratings). The reason we went there was the name of the sim we arrived at; "Shell Beach" is a location in the movie Dark City, and we were curious whether there was any relation. (It turns out that no, there wasn't: the name's just coincidence.)

Curiously, one of the first things encountered was a place with a helicopter and a small sports plane (an "Air Camper 626", which may or may not be a real plane); outside of that, the continent seemed... well, rather like a gated community of sorts (which it is, in a way). The street grid was perfectly rectangular (oddly reminiscent of Springfield), and the carefully-placed trees, the wide roads, the monorail and everything made it look very polished, perhaps in an attempt to avoid even the slightest semblance of seediness.

Despite this, I didn't manage to get any good screenshots (I suppose I was just too tired), and in the end, I just took one of the peer we'd arrived at, leading out into the endless ocean of nowhere. I rather like how it came out, and I also neatly managed to avoid anything that wouldn't be (P)G-rated this way. :)

I'm still curious about Zindra in general — but of course, the same goes for all the other continents, so I'll just add it to my list of destinations to explore more. (Speaking of which, isn't it funny how despite there being so much to explore, I never seem to know what to take screenshots of? I'm puzzling over it almost every night; part of it is due to me not being in an explory mood right now, but I also just don't have much of an idea where to start.)

Location: Shell Beach (219, 25, 36) (North Shore)
