Two fuzzies and a plane decided to do some remodelling last night — the mud pit was removed (don't ask) and replaced with a bit of lawn. It looked sort of like a golf green, and I initially thought, hey, I'll go to the marketplace and buy a golf hole and flag and put it up just for giggles, but it turns out that no such thing is actually being sold.
So I made my own; it's the kind of geometric-ish shape that's actually fairly easy to approximate using just a handful of prims, and it's the kind of object where you can get away with solid colors and no textures, too. At least the flag proper's a flexiprim that'll wave lightly in the wind! :)
I wonder if I shouldn't put up the flag for a few L$, too, just to save others the trouble of having to build one themselves. LL takes commission fees for marketplace sales, rather unsurprisingly, but they don't charge you any fees to HAVE a store there.
Unfortunately, my Firestorm install seems to lack the necessary interface to actually interact with the marketplace. Whether that's because it's an old build or whether you have to have a premium (paid) SL account to sell stuff, I don't know; I'll have to investigate some more.
In the meantime, at least we can play golf. :P I set up a small teeing ground at the opposite end, too, with a pair of blue markers (playing golf games taught me SOMETHING, at least); all that's still needed now is a miniature fairway, maybe a proper green (seeing as how the lawn would come to represent the rough), and maybe a few bunkers and water hazards (granted, we already have the beach, and the ocean and swimming pool.)
Oh, and burrowing animals. It's not golf if you don't have burrowing animals.
