I went to the Snowlands on Sansara last night, hoping to find something interesting there, but even though it saddens me to not be able to write something a little more positive about it, it really wasn't a particularly pleasant experience.
Just about everything that could possibly be wrong with an area is wrong with this one. It triggers frequent client crashes. It's got too much unfinished rubbish littering the landscape. It's plagued by rampant uncontrolled low skybox building (quite a bit of it derendered above) by people whose lack of an eye for design is only rivalled by their lack of respect for the desire for a coherent and aesthetically pleasing environment. And what interesting stuff there is – like the ski ramp in the above screenshot – is sealed off and private far too often, anyway.
I love snow, and I always thought the Snowlands were a neat idea. But reality, sadly, falls considerably short of both what I'd hoped for, and what I think the Snowlands could be.
