365 days of SL, day 312:

(Click for larger — 1920x1033 PNG, 1254 KiB)

A new video card means better SL performance, and that means I get to try out new things! :) For example, I can actually properly enable DoF processing now; I've toyed around with the viewing angle on day 66 before, but never had the processing power needed to enable the actual effect.

It's pretty neat, too — the camera's automatically focusses on the object you're looking at, and everything else gets a strong focal blur, albeit a rather synthetic-looking one. (I wonder what it would take to simulate a nice bokeh?) BTW, I definitely recommend viewing the large/full resolution of this screenshot, too, not just the scaled-down preview picture.

I also used the opportunity to upgrade to the latest Firestorm, BTW, and I gotta say, I love the new phototools. In fact, the only thing that I don't like so far is that the screenshot dialogue does not automatically close after you save a shot (this doesn't mesh so well with my workflow so far), but I'm sure I'll either get used to it or find a preference to change it, safely tucked away somewhere I didn't look yet. :)

Almost looks like he's asked, or about to ask you out for a date ;-)

But I love the effects!

*chuckles* It does, doesn't it?

And yeah, so do I! It's not something I'll want to have enabled all the time, I think, but it's neat and makes for pretty interesting screenshots.
