365 days of SL, day 319:

(Click for larger — 1920x1033 PNG, 1976 KiB)

We've occasionally seen large blue(ish) crystals here – on day 160 (in the Snowlands), day 147 (on Heterocera) and day 44 (on Jeogeot), specifically –, but last night I came across a red one. I still don't know if these serve any purpose or whether they're purely decorative (my money's on the latter), but either way, I like them.

The picture was taken in the same area that I already visited on day 211, BTW.

Location: Nautilus - Himilco (13, 182, 64) (The Citadel)

My first thought was red tiberium. o.o

Although it is a very nice decoration.

I can't say I'd ever heard of tiberium before, but looking at a picture on Wikipedia, I can see why you mean. Maybe they got inspired by those — or maybe they're just both visualizations of the same "this is what crystals are supposed to look like" that's shared across our current culture.

And yeah, I rather like the crystals, too.
