I still occasionally check to see if Alikat's might've returned to the grid, but so far it hasn't. Last night, I noticed a sim called "AliKat Korner", at least, and decided to take a look, wondering if it might be related.
It turned out it wasn't. It also turned out that despite my best intentions to NOT go planespotting again, I came across one anyway — a beached black-and-white Boeing 737, seen above.
I also played around with the environment a bit here and tried various sky and water settings to see what sorts of effects they'd produce. Many of them are something less than subtle, and some have decidedly strange names, too ("Incongruent Truths" was probably my favorite in that regard), but in the end I settled for "[TOR] DUSK - Beachin" and "[TOR] Raw sewage", which was much nicer than it sounded.
The combination yields a rather magical environment, as seen above, characterized by warm red and orange tones; it reminded me of one of the color schemes used in Drivey. Pretty much every screenshot taken this way will look lovely; I'll just give one more example:

Isn't that nice?
