Applejack can be quite a bitch. And Braeburn is quite a pushover, which together makes for some rather eye-rolling interaction. I like AJ – she's one of my favorites among the Mane Six –, but she didn't show herself from her best side here.
I liked Trouble Shoes, he's a nice and relatable character. You could perhaps ask why the CMC saw his real talent within five seconds when he couldn't for all his life, but hey.
What DOES his cutie mark actually mean if not "bad luck"? (Nice symbolism there, BTW; the opening of the horseshoe facing down means luck's pouring out and disappearing.)
