In the wake and on the occasion of the recent US presidential election, I will remain silent and instead let Dr. Rumack from Airplane! speak for me:

„Good luck. We were all counting on you.“

This should prove quite, interesting? I won't join the naysayers nor the revelers on this one: I'm waiting for the resurgence of the bumper stickers "Don't blame me I voted for *whomever*" to start appearing.

Oh yes — "interesting times", as the saying goes!

I'm honestly not even sure who I would've voted for. Neither of the major candidates seemed all that appealing. I suppose it would've come to policy choices for me — it's tempting to vote for the person you think is more likeable, the chum you'd like to have a drink with, that sort of thing, but it's a poor basis for electing any politician.

I'm waiting for the resurgence of the bumper stickers "Don't blame me I voted for *whomever*" to start appearing.

Don't blame me, I voted for Kodos. :)

Also: rumor has it the Canadian immigration website crashed in the afterhours of the election. Whether that's true and whether it's directly attributable to the result I don't know, but it makes for a fun little anecdote.

Ah, is that someone who stood for election but wasn't on your ballot, or just someone you'd have liked to see in charge?

He's a Utah conservative (but NOT one of the uber-evangelical types) who has a lot of views that I agree with. There isn't much that I disagree with him on. :)

He was only a write-in in my state but he was an alternative to Trump or Hillary, 2 extremely flawed candidates.

Amongst the crumbs of comfort I can find are that at least San Francisco roundly rejected such a wretched individual.

Beyond that? Looks like there'll be a climate change denialist in charge of the EPA, the FRC will advise on LGBT matters, the oil lobbyists are in, and they've already said they'll bring back "high-risk pools" for medical insurance, so even with the ACA, it remains questionable whether anyone with inconveniently expensive ailments will be at all able to afford the reaming the insurers will be free to offer. And then there's the joy of someone with legendarily thin skin and a vengeful nature being in control of the NSA.

Wow, those are some fairly clear results.

Hmm, I'm starting to feel you don't like the guy. :)

(Well, jokes aside: as I/Dr. Rumack said above, good luck.)

You're American? I thought you were British! XP

Of course San Fran went to Hillary. It's strongly liberal so it's not like it should surprise you or anything. ;)

I've said it over and over, Trump's temperament worries the hell outta me. He went full Nixon with an enemies list too. :O

Technically, you could write yourself in as a write-in. I can't because I'm still a little under 35 yet. ;)
